Then, Jennifer will also take you to Ryan Elementary School in Baton Rouge to show how Charlie’s Cart is teaching children where their food comes from, and what they can make strawberry shortcakes with local ingredients.

WINNSBORO, LA — It’s been raining every day across much of Louisiana lately, so it’s easy to forget how hot and dry this summer was for many. Adam Faulk, a corn farmer in Franklin Parish, hasn’t forgotten. He said the rains now are something he could have used two months ago, but are a just a nuisance interfering with harvest.

NEW ORLEANS,LA — Usually for Jacob and Kari Rumbaugh, each morning begins with a long list of daily chores on their farm in Dixie, La. On June 22, however, they woke up in New Orleans as the 2018 winners of the Young Farmer and Rancher Achievement Award. The award was presented to them at the Louisiana Farm Bureau’s Organizational Awards during its annual convention.

ISLA MAYOR, SPAIN — The levied rice fields surrounding Isla Mayor in southern Spain look nearly identical to those in southwestern Louisiana. Just like those in Jeff Davis, Acadia and Vermilion Parishes, the rice fields in Spain are home to the Louisiana Red Swamp Crawfish.
