TWILA: September 16, 2022
For the past couple months, farmers and ranchers across Louisiana have fought weather. As crops ripened and farmers prepared for harvest, the clouds opened up and have flooded and devastated crops. This week, the team covers damaged soybeans, delayed rice harvest, hurried sugarcane planting, and Louisiana Farm Bureau’s response to all of this bad news for Louisiana farmers and ranchers. Also in this week’s show, we hear from Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forest, Dr. Mike Strain, about what he’s seen in all this damage across the state and the path forward to making farmers whole again. Finally, an update on why the TWILA team has been quiet lately — there have been a lot of really great changes in the past couple months.
